What Fer Lopez is willing to do to rejoin Celta Vigo as Wolves man shares stance to Jorge Mendes

Fer Lopez is looking increasingly unlikely to be at Wolves beyond the January transfer window – and a report from Spain has brought an update on his situation.

Hopes were high for Fer Lopez after he arrived at Wolves for nearly £20 million in the summer.

He then set about enjoying a productive pre-season, although Wolves didn’t win any games.

Fer Lopez was buzzing to sign for Wolves, but an exit is now being talked about…

“It was very hard to leave my boyhood club, but I was very pleased to come here.”

But unfortunately, it hasn’t gone the way fans – and he himself – expected it to, with Lopez one of the least used players in the squad.

The Spaniard has been unable to force his way into the side, and couldn’t convince Vitor Pereira to play him regularly.

And things haven’t really changed under Rob Edwards so far.

So in recent days, speculation has been mounting about Lopez’s future, with Wolves now looking to loan him out.

It’s been claimed Lopez would be keen on a return to Celta Vigo, and one report has shared one thing he’s willing to do to make that happen.

It’s been a real shame to see Lopez fade into the background.

Because obviously at the moment, Wolves have a major creativity issue – and Lopez’s game revolves around creativity and technicality.

Of course, he’s had some games where he has struggled.

But he’s also shown some glimpses of his ability. His assists for Ladislav Krejci in the game against Leeds was impressive.

But it looks like he’ll be departing, and Lopez himself is reportedly now very keen for that to happen.

According to Atlantico, Lopez has made it clear to Jorge Mendes that he wants to leave, and apparently he is willing to make a ‘significant economic sacrifice’ to return to Celta specifically.

Previously, it was reported that Lopez’s wages would be a hurdle for Celta.

There is the notion that Wolves could pay a part of Lopez’s wages to help Celta out. But the suggestion here is that maybe Lopez could actually just take a lower wage to play on loan at Celta without any subsidising from Wolves.

Lopez loan would be another bad look for Wolves

It is now looking much more likely that Lopez leaves the club in January, and it’s another poor look for Wolves.

And it’s made worse by the fact that actually, on paper, he could be a solution to a major problem for Wolves if he was just given a proper chance.

It’s not like those who’ve been playing ahead of him have been shining.

And of course there’s the AFCON tournament coming up which will see Wolves’ squad get smaller, plus the potential for injuries.

It sounds like Lopez is keen to go, but that stance is understandable given how little prominence he’s had.
