What Emmanuel Agbadou did in transfer meetings that really impressed Wolves

Wolves have announced their first signing of the January window — defender Emmanuel Agbadou.

Agbadou has joined Wolves on a four-and-a-half year deal following a €20 million transfer from Stade Reims.

Teaming up with Vitor Pereira at Molineux, Agbadou is determined to ‘give his all’ for Wolves. There may even be a chance for him to showcase his abilities very soon, with a potential debut for Agbadou against Bristol City in the FA Cup on the weekend.

Pereira’s eagerness to make defensive reinforcements wasn’t a secret. The manager has needed to bolster his backline following a string of injuries to Wolves first-team defenders.

And although RC Lens’ Kevin Danso remains a target, Agbadou has become the Old Gold’s first major signing after leaving Wolves’ decision-makers thoroughly impressed.

Emmanuel Agbadou impressed Wolves during transfer meetings

Wasting no time in securing Agbadou’s signature, Wolves’ recruitment team worked quickly to get a deal across the line.

The manager played a big role in the centre-back’s deal with Pereira’s style of play likely to be a perfect fit for Agbadou.

It wasn’t just the Portuguese boss who helped the transfer become a reality though. The player, and how he conducted himself in the lead-up to his move to the Midlands, also made a positive impression.

According to The Athletic, Agbadou’s ability to communicate in English, along with his overall personality, impressed those responsible for the club’s recruitment.

Early Agbadou signs positive as Wolves hope for Premier League survival

A club making signings is one thing, but a club making the right signings is another, and it is clear the Old Gold did their due diligence with Agbadou.

The impression the 27-year-old has made is a really positive sign and fans will now be expecting him to build solid relationships with the rest of the Wolves first-team, particularly with Craig Dawson, who, now set to return from injury, is likely to form the second part of a three-man backline.

During Agbadou’s three years at Stade Reims, he featured in 80 matches in all competitions; a good indication he is physically durable and capable of handling the notoriously demanding Premier League.
