What David Moller Wolfe told his brother two years ago proves Wolves move was ‘meant to be’

Wolves announced the signing of left-back David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar on Saturday morning.

The news of an agreement for David Moller Wolfe seemingly came out of nowhere on Thursday, with Fabrizio Romano breaking an exclusive story on the Norwegian.

It was a deal that came pretty much out of the blue, with links dying down after initial speculation over Moller Wolfe in June.

And now, the move is official. It plugs a hole in Vitor Pereira’s side with a similar profile to Rayan Ait-Nouri.

David Moller Wolfe and his brothers joked about a Wolfe playing for Wolves

In his first sit-down with the club for the Wolves official website, Moller Wolfe revealed that he had discussed the idea of playing for Wolves with his brothers two years ago, saying: “Personally, I think it’s pretty cool to have that surname and then to play for Wolverhampton.

“Me and my brothers have actually joked a little bit about it a couple of years ago, and now it is turning into a reality. I think it was meant to be.”

Moller Wolfe discussed the process of reaching an agreement with the club, citing the efforts of both Domenico Teti and Vitor Pereira as big reasons for his interest in joining: “I felt incredibly wanted from the second I talked to Domenico and the second I talked to the coach.”

Moller Wolfe has signed for Wolves on a five-year deal and will hope to have similar success to his Algerian predecessor.

Jorgen Strand Larsen played a part in David Moller Wolfe signing

Fellow Norwegian Jorgen Strand Larsen was keen on his friend joining the club. He did well to sell life at Molineux to the defender.

As Moller-Wolfe explains: “I have spoken to Jorgen [about the move]. We spoke for the first time about it a couple of weeks ago and then a couple of days ago again.

“He only has positive things to say about the club, about the people in the club, about the fans and about the city.”

The two are close friends off the pitch and it will be interesting to see if they can carry that chemistry onto the field of play. Moller Wolfe is a quality crosser of the ball and will surely look to link up with his mate if Strand Larsen doesn’t leave for Newcastle.
