What Brazil’s media are now saying about Fluminense’s stance on Jhon Arias’ transfer to Wolves

Wolves are eager to sign Fluminense winger Jhon Arias this summer.

The Brazilian club will be sick of the sight of Wolves, as after taking Andre from their grasp last summer, the Old Gold are now wanting another key player.

Arias was one of the top performers at the Club World Cup, where he showcased his talent to the world, turning Wolves’ heads.

Vitor Pereira could add the Colombian right winger to his squad this summer, but first, the clubs from the West Midlands and Rio de Janeiro will need to come to an agreement.

Wolves expected to make a new offer for Jhon Arias

Fluminense rejected Wolves’ £15m offer for Arias, who has been at the club since 2021.

The winger’s dream is to play in Europe, having spent the entirety of his career in North and South America, representing clubs from Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

Though Fluminense are standing firm, the club aren’t expected to be able to keep Wolves out, as Brazilian outlet Terra hinted.

A fresh report from Brazil noted that ‘despite the obstacles’ around the transfer, Fluminense are aware of what the move would mean to Arias.

It’s understood that Fluminense ‘understands and respects’ Arias’ dream of a Premier League transfer, adding that in the ‘coming days’, a fresh offer will come in.

Wolves will have to loosen their purse strings to strike a deal, with Arias willing to take a pay cut to sign for the Old Gold.

Often, one benefit of a Premier League transfer is the wage increase, but for Arias, things could be different.

The player’s desire to make the move could just land Wolves the attacker this summer, with those in Rio braced for a second offer.

Arias’ record for Fluminense

It’s clear why Fluminense don’t want to let Arias go, as the winger is one of the club’s best players.

With 102 goal contributions in 229 appearances for the Brazilian club, Arias boasts an impressive record, with his Club World Cup form only giving fans a glimpse of his quality.

Pereira will want to get the 27-year-old on board to bolster the attack at Molineux, but first, Wolves need to offer something irrefutable.
