Vitor Pereira ‘wants to bring’ one of his former Corinthians starlets to Wolves, he’s a standout

Wolves have added a player once coached by Vitor Pereira to their list of transfer targets.

Pereira coached in the Saudi Pro League before joining Wolves however, it’s in South America where transfer speculation involving the Old Gold is growing.

Wolves have been linked to Flamengo’s Evertton Araujo, a midfielder coached by the manager in Brazil, and he’s not the only talent from the region to be making the headlines in the West Midlands.

After striking gold through the signings of Joao Gomes and Andre, it’s no surprise that Matt Hobbs is eager to shop in the Brazilian market once more, as another target has been identified.

Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon wanted by Wolves

In Brazil, Pereira took up roles at both Corinthians and Flamengo, where he crossed paths with a mass of talent.

At Corinthians, the Wolves manager supported the budding career of 2005-born Breno Bidon, who has since blossomed into a well-thought-of player in Sao Paulo.

Brazilian outlet Radio Craque Neto has now reported that Bidon has ‘caught the attention’ of Wolves and particularly Pereira.

It’s claimed that Pereira now ‘wants to bring’ Bidon to Wolves, in what could represent a mid-season transfer for the midfielder, who has newly broken into the Corinthians first team.

Having made 53 appearances in all competitions over the 2024 Brazilian footballing calendar, Bidon could arrive at Wolves with newfound experience behind him, just as Gomes once did.

Vitor Pereira’s ex-assistant shared glowing praise of Bidon

Though the youngster is far from the finished article, Pereira clearly sees a bright future for Bidon, whom he promoted to first-team training at Corinthians.

The Wolves boss saw first-hand what the central midfielder had to offer then, as did his former coaching staff, as Pereira’s ex-assistant at Corinthians shared a glowing review of the starlet.

When speaking to ESPN, Filipe Almeida described the rumoured Wolves target as a standout midfielder, lauding Bidon’s ‘technical ability’.

“A box-to-box midfielder with high technical ability, standing out in his decision-making ability he is very intelligent in exploring spaces, with a very good first touch that allows him to effectively make decisions that positively affect the game.

“He shows forward-oriented reception, revealing quality not only in his final pass, but also in his mid-range finishing with his left foot. He is a player with great potential and room for improvement, both from a technical-tactical and physical point of view.”

At just 20 years old, some would ponder whether a move to the Premier League would be too early for Bidon, but history will tell you that Wolves is the place to be for rising Brazilian talent.

Gomes was just 21 when he joined Wolves, and the rest is history, with his success clearly inspiring the recruitment team at Molineux.
