Vitor Pereira makes ‘difficult’ admission about Nelson Semedo’s Wolves future amid transfer speculation

The January transfer window is an interesting time for Wolves, who are prepared for incomings and outgoings.

Already, Wolves are set to welcome Emmanuel Agbadou to make their fast start in the January window known.

As well as eyeing defensive reinforcements, Vitor Pereira is hoping to extend some stays, with Matheus Cunha in line to sign a new deal at Wolves

Amid speculation, it seems that the Old Gold are working fast to right their wrongs in the summer transfer window, with a lot of work to be done before February.

Vitor Pereira opens up about Nelson Semedo’s future

While Cunha continues to attract transfer interest, the Brazilian star isn’t the only first team player that Pereira is wary about.

The Wolves manager recently opened up about Nelson Semedo’s future, as the Portuguese is out of contract in the summer.

It’s understood that Wolves want to keep Semedo past the summer, which is something the boss also wants, via Express and Star

“He is a good player, he’s a professional and he has the skills that I like, that means if the club ask my opinion, I would stay with him,” Pereira said about the prospect of keeping the defender.

The 30-year-old’s role at Wolves has become even more important in recent weeks, as Semedo was named captain after Mario Lemina’s actions against West Ham.

With a growing responsibility and being a figure growing in form, Pereira doesn’t want to lose the former Barcelona star however, the boss has insisted that he’s not yet approached the player about staying.

“There’s been a lot of things to fix and work on and it’s difficult for me to think about everything. We will have time to discuss,” he said.

Wolves players out of contract in 2025

Pereira not only took charge of a struggling squad, but also a team that could see several star talents depart in the near future.

A handful of Wolves players are out of contract in 2025, including Semedo and former captain Lemina.

While it’s expected that Lemina could leave Wolves in January, others run the risk of leaving as free agents in the summer.

As well as Semedo and Lemina, Pablo Sarabia and Craig Dawson have limited time on their current deals, giving Pereira a lot to sort through.
