Vitor Pereira just decided Carlos Forbs’ Wolves future for him after what he did vs West Ham

Carlos Forbs will not be in Vitor Pereira’s plans for next season following Wolves’ win over West Ham.

The Old Gold took a giant leap towards safety as Pereira watched his side beat West Ham 1-0 at Molinuex

Wolves players jumped on Pereira as the significance of the victory was felt around WV1, however, the win was most poignant for one player in particular.

Forbs’ future has been spoken about throughout the campaign following his move from Ajax, with his fate now decided after he remained an unused substitute against West Ham.

Obligations not met for permanent transfer of Carlos Forbs

For the seventh consecutive Premier League game, Pereira didn’t look to Forbs to help Wolves from the bench.

The end is in sight for what has been a frustrating loan spell for the 21-year-old, who will certainly return to Ajax in the summer.

After Forbs remained on the bench against West Ham, it was confirmed that the player’s loan obligations will not be met, meaning Wolves will not sign the winger permanently.

Ajax negotiated with Wolves to allow their player to leave permanently if he were to start ten or more games for the Old Gold in the Premier League.

It’s been a nightmare loan spell at Wolves for Forbs, who hasn’t been utilised by either Pereira or Gary O’Neil.

With one start to his name and eight games to go, there is no possibility that the Portugal U21 star can fulfil the obligations, granting his return to Amsterdam at the end of the season.

Wolves would’ve paid £11.4m for Forbs had the conditions been met, an outcome that has been avoided due to the player’s inactivity throughout the campaign.

Shame Wolves couldn’t get the best of Forbs

All in all, it’s been a terrible season for Forbs and a campaign that Wolves might just look back on and think ‘what if’.

The winger certainly has talent; his form in Manchester City’s academy proved that, scoring 29 goals in 2022/23 to earn his transfer to Ajax.

Those behind the scenes at Wolves are clearly not convinced enough at this moment by the 21-year-old, whose future lies far from the West Midlands.

Will Forbs show what could’ve been once he gets a chance to shine? Only time will tell.
