Vitor Pereira has three key requirements for potential new signings at Wolves

Wolves fans are not happy after very poor summer transfer window.

Wolves have lost their first three Premier League games, and now have a squad that is definitely weaker than last season.

Game-changing players have left, and been replaced by gambles.

The recruitment strategy this summer, after a restructure at the club, has been questionable at best.

That restructure saw Matt Hobbs leave Wolves, with Domenico Teti – who had previously worked with Pereira – arriving as the new director of professional football.

There has also been a greater lean on Gestifute, Jorge Mendes and Valdir Cardoso this summer, in the hope of building a solid squad.

But ultimately, it’s actually Vitor Pereira who has the final say on transfers, according to an intriguing new report today.

We now wait to see if the new players brought in this summer will be able to make an effective impact.

The fact none of them have Premier League experience is leading to questions being asked of the club – many have pointed out that it is a huge gamble to only sign players from overseas clubs.

But that has been the Wolves way for a while.

Today, Tom Collomosse has penned a fascinating article in the Daily Mail about Wolves’ summer and recruitment.

And he shares details of the process, saying Pereira has the final say – and that ‘potential players must be tall, quick and aggressive to earn his approval’.

Players signed on Vitor Pereira’s watch at Wolves
Emmanuel Agbadou – 6ft 3in
Nasser Djiga – 6ft 4in
Marshall Munetsi – 6ft 2in
Fer Lopez – 6ft 2in
Jhon Arias – 5ft 7in
David Moller Wolfe – 6ft 2in
Jackson Tchatchoua – 6ft 1in
Ladislav Krejci – 6ft 3in
Tolu Arokodare – 6ft 6in

Pereira has certainly been pretty faithful to these requirements since he arrived midway through last season.

On his watch, just one player under six foot has been signed so far in Jhon Arias.

Pereira must be more open-minded over transfers at Wolves after previous success stories

One can see the thinking behind Pereira wanting tall, strong, physical players. We know that such profiles can thrive in English football.

But Pereira has surely got to be open to landing smaller, more technical and creative players too.

Wolves have had some absolutely fantastic players who have been on the shorter side, such as Joao Moutinho, Jonny Castro Otto, Daniel Podence, Diogo Jota, Pedro Neto, and more recently Joao Gomes and Andre.

Of course, Pereira did personally vouch for Arias – who is 5ft 7in – to move to Wolves.

Hopefully, Wolves won’t miss out on too many opportunities due to Pereira’s preferences.
