Vitor Pereira eyes second signing for Wolves as £16m transfer bid launched

Wolves are hoping to seal their second signing of the January transfer window before time runs out.

Vitor Pereira needs help from those above him at Wolves as the Old Gold sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League table.

Despite signing Emmanuel Agbadou from Stade Reims early into the transfer window, Pereira has demanded at least two further signings before the end of the month.

A central defender and a midfielder are on Pereira’s wish list, with reports now suggesting that the Wolves manager is optimistic about landing his second signing.

Wolves submit bid for Kevin Danso

Reports earlier in the window suggested that Kevin Danso rejected Wolves, handing the Old Gold a blow as the Austrian was considered a top target.

Wolves didn’t give up hope when it came to recruiting the 26-year-old defender, with it now reported that the Midlands club have submitted a bid for the centre-back.

The news comes from journalist John Percy, who reported that Wolves have submitted a £16m bid for the RC Lens star.

Percy revealed that Wolves are ‘hopeful’ of getting the deal over the line before the end of the transfer window, noting that talks are ‘ongoing’ over the long-term target.

Everton were also admirers of Danso, with the Austria international generating sufficient Premier League attention this winter.

The Telegraph’s report dates Wolves’ interest back to 12 months ago and now, Pereira has his heart set on completing the transfer.

Danso’s history in English football

Aside from the Austrian’s experience and form in France, Wolves’ interest could stem from the fact that Danso is somewhat acclimatised to the English game.

The defender spent the 2019/20 season on loan in the Premier League from Augsburg, signing for Southampton.

Danso’s stint on the south coast wasn’t the beginning and the end of his story in England, being a former academy talent at Reading and MK Dons before moving to Germany.

Though the 26-year-old doesn’t fit the profile of the left-footed centre-back Wolves were looking for, his presence would undoubtedly bolster Pereira’s options at the back.

It’s yet to be seen how RC Lens react to Wolves’ ambitious offer, with the Old Gold set on delivering their primary target after all.
