Vitor Pereira can sign ‘exciting’ Wolves target for just £8m in the summer – he’s like Dani Olmo

The curtain was closed on Wolves transfer business this winter and Vitor Pereira was generally satisfied with who he signed.

Pereira wanted to sign three players in the winter window, preferably a centre-back, central midfielder and forward.

The Portuguese boss managed to tick two positions off that list, with Emmanuel Agbadou arriving in January before Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi were confirmed on transfer deadline day.

Munetsi made his Wolves debut against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup on Sunday as goals from Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes clinched their place in the fifth round.

However, the Zimbabwe international wasn’t the only midfielder targeted by the Old Gold recently, with one of their targets available for a bargain price in the summer.

Wolves target Ibrahim Maza is available for just £8m in the summer

It was reported in November that Wolves were interested in Ibrahim Maza, the teenage attacking midfielder who plays for Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga 2.

The Premier League strugglers were joined in their liking for Maza by numerous other clubs, including rivals Southampton, Brentford, Fulham, Leicester City, Newcastle United, and West Ham United.

Interestingly, SportBILD that the Hertha Berlin gem has a €9.5m (£8m) release clause which activates in the summer.

However, the final value of the clause will vary depending on Maza’s appearances in the league as well as for the Algerian national team.

Maza is an ‘exciting’ 19-year-old talent who has featured 21 times in Bundesliga 2 this term and returned five goals along with four assists.

He’s also been compared to Barcelona’s Dani Olmo by talent scout Adam Khan due to him being a “highly technical and creative orchestrator in the final third, embodying the unpredictability, creativity, and confidence typically associated with this role.”

Wolves were once linked with Olmo, and the Spanish playmaker has since flourished at Barca with six goals and three assists in all competitions this term.

Rayan Ait-Nouri connection could help Wolves land Maza

It isn’t just English top-flight clubs that have an interest in the creative maestro, as unsurprisingly, German giants Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen are sniffing around.

But whilst those clubs can offer a potential route to European football, Maza perhaps isn’t ready for the European stage and needs to play regular football.

Depending on whether Wolves stay in the Premier League, Pereira would be tempted to utilise Maza as an attacking force, with the connection to Rayan Ait-Nouri helping to secure a deal.

Ait-Nouri is an Algerian international and so is Maza, who made his debut for the nation in an AFCON qualifier against Togo in October 2024.

The Wolves left wing-back could use his relationship with the Hertha Berlin star to lure him to Molineux. Matheus Cunha was a deciding factor in Pedro Lima joining Wolves last summer, and a similar narrative could play out if personal terms need to be agreed with Maza.
