Vitor Pereira actually tried to sign 31-goal striker in January at Wolves – his agent is now in Europe

Wolves ended the January transfer window impressively but it was almost a home run for Vitor Pereira.

With two moves on deadline day, Wolves rounded off a comprehensive January window, welcoming three players.

In defence, Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Agbadou were acquired, with midfielder Marshall Munetsi also captured.

Pereira wanted more signings than Wolves delivered, with it reported during the window that a forward was also desired at Molineux.

Wolves made a move for Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto in January transfer window

In the summer transfer window, Gary O’Neil addressed Wolves’ lack of depth in attack, welcoming Jorgen Strand Larsen, Carlos Forbs and Rodrigo Gomes.

While the latter has been used more defensively, Gomes has provided a goal threat to the Wolves squad but it’s clear that another forward is certainly needed.

So much so that it’s become apparent that Wolves made a move for a high-scoring striker in January, as reported in Brazil.

R7 Esporte have relayed information that the Old Gold were one of three Premier League clubs to come forward for Yuri Alberto.

Alberto, who represents Corinthians, was a target for Wolves in the winter market but, a deal was unable to be struck due to his fixed asking price of €25m.

The Brazilian outlet shared an update on the player’s future admitting that while the striker is happy at Corinthians, he dreams of playing in Europe, where his agent currently is in an attempt to sound out a next destination.

Inter Milan are claimed to be the most interested party at present at the request of Simone Inzaghi, with no update regarding whether Wolves want to re-ignite their winter interest.

Yuri Alberto’s high scoring record in Brazil

What is fascinating about Wolves’ interest in the player is that Alberto’s path crossed with Pereira’s during the manager’s time at Corinthians.

It’s unsurprising that Pereira might want to rekindle his relationship with the 23-year-old, who is scoring for fun in South America.

Yuri Alberto’s scoring record in Brazil

Last season, Alberto netted 31 goals in all competitions and this campaign, has already scored three times in nine appearances.

The player’s next steps look to be a European move, which could prompt Pereira to lure his former goalscorer to Molineux but, with increased interest, a move might not be easy to pull off.
