UCL giants don’t want £85k-a-week Wolves man Jeff Shi called ‘an exciting young talent’

A report has claimed that Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes is not actually a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

Julen Lopetegui is really looking to now add new faces to his squad.

He has already lost several high-profile names this summer.

The likes of Conor Coady, Nathan Collins, Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez have all gone, and Wanderers’ depth isn’t great at the moment.

And earlier today, Nunes was linked with an exit from Molineux.

But Wanderers fans may not have to worry as now there is a claim disputing that original report.

PSG have no interest in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes

According to a report from Le10 Sport today, Nunes is not thought to be on PSG’s radar this summer.

Originally, it was claimed by L’Equipe that Nunes was appreciated by the sporting director Luis Campos.

Nunes is represented by the agent Jorge Mendes, who has a good relationship with Campos.

But Le10 Sport say that Nunes’ name has not been pushed forward this summer.

Shortly after the 2022/23 season finished, there were reports about some of Wolves’ players that might be on the move in this window.

Nunes was one player mentioned, along with Ruben Neves and Nelson Semedo.

With Neves having gone, it is surely unlikely at this point that Nunes would also be sold. Many fans are now expecting him to take over Neves’ mantle at Molineux.

Wolves cannot lose Nunes now

Hopefully Le10 Sport have this right and L’Equipe have it completely wrong.

Wolves cannot be losing Nunes now, especially after Neves’ exit.

The £85,000-a-week maestro may have had a pretty underwhelming debut season at Molineux, but Nunes is one of Wolves’ top players on paper.

When he first arrived at the club, chairman Jeff Shi branded him ‘an exciting young talent’. While Nunes is not really that ‘young’, he certainly is exciting.

He is a very talented and versatile midfielder and fans are expecting big things from him in 2023/24.

Everyone knows Wolves are in a tricky spot financially.

But unless an absolutely mammoth offer comes in, then there is no way Nunes should be sold.
