Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker has at least three Premier League clubs interested in signing him today.
According to Express & Star journalist Liam Keen, the Belgium international could yet leave Molineux before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
The star has slipped further down the pecking order at the club following the arrival of Matheus Nunes from Sporting CP.
Wolves shattered their transfer record to sign the 23-year-old, and Dendoncker’s playing time will suffer.
The star is now into the final year of his contract, although the club does have an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
Dendoncker has clocked up 159 appearances for the club to date, and he is highly regarded by Bruno Lage, who branded him one of the best professionals at the club earlier this year.
It will be very interesting to see if there is any movement on Dendoncker today.
Apparently West Ham United, Newcastle United and Everton are all interested.
And there is a further claim that Aston Villa are also keen. Douglas Luiz is being linked with a move away from Villa Park. Potentially, that deal coming to fruition could see Villa intensify their pursuit of Dendoncker.
And if Dendoncker leaves Wolves, Keen suggests Boubacar Traore may well end up at Molineux.
At the moment though, Wanderers have no agreement with his club FC Metz.
Wolves would be unwise to offload Leander Dendoncker today
It is possible that a good offer could arrive for Dendoncker today, and Wolves officials could be tempted to cash in.
But it would arguably not be a wise move to get rid of him, especially without securing a replacement.
He may not be a superstar, but £90,000-a-week star Dendoncker is versatile and can come in and do a job for Lage, who obviously really likes him.
At the end of the day he has a lot of Premier League experience. And he is someone who can help the new signings settle in.
