Transfer deadline day: Adama Traore to stay at Molineux as Wolves prepare new contract offer

A number of players have been linked with an exit from Wolves today, but one man who looks all but certain to stay now is Adama Traore.

The Spanish winger has not commanded the kind of attention many thought he would earlier this year.

Traore made a brilliant start to life on loan at Barcelona back in January.

Many expected him to seal a permanent move there.

But he very quickly became a bit-part player at the Nou Camp under Xavi.

Barca had the option to buy Traore, but it became apparent quite early on that they would not be exercising it.

Traore returned to Wolves, and there have been a few links here and there to the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

But nothing too significant, and SPORT are reporting today that the 26-year-old will stay at Molineux. It is not expected that he will leave in the final hours of the window.

And interestingly, SPORT suggest that Wolves officials will actually try again to get Traore to sign a new contract at Molineux.

Previously there have been offers from the club, but the forward has been reluctant to extend. The player, of course, has just one year left on his current deal.

It is stated that he is happy to remain at Wolves for now, and will see how the current campaign develops before deciding to either sign a new deal or leave as a free agent.

Good news as Wolves set to keep Adama Traore – new deal for Spaniard would be fantastic

If SPORT’s information is accurate, then it is a relief that Wolves are keeping Traore.

His end product still leaves a lot to be desired, but ultimately Traore is just a nightmare for defenders.

He has a role to play this season for Wanderers, and hopefully Bruno Lage will hand him some starts soon.

It could be wishful thinking that Traore will sign a new deal at Molineux.

But you never know. Wanderers’ form could really pick up in the middle of the season and Traore might force his way back into the starting XI and become a key player.
