Tottenham may have ruined Wolves hopes of signing £13m man now

On Monday lunchtime, the identity of Ange Postecoglou’s third signing as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach was all-but confirmed.

Manor Solomon, so impressive on loan at Fulham in 2022/23, is returning to the Premier League after Spurs enlisted the help of renowned super-agent Pini Zahavi.

“We are all full of appreciation and thanks to Pini Zahavi. (Zahavi) is the one who made the whole deal (happen). He is the best agent in the world,” Solomon’s representative, Shlomi Ben Ezra, tells Israeli publication One.

“We all thank him for the deal with Tottenham.”

Solomon, Sky Sport say, will undergo a medical before signing a four-year deal in North London.

And this will not only come as a disappointment to Fulham – manager Marco Silva had made no secret of his desire to retain the stylish 23-year-old – it also delivers a potential blow to Wolves’ hopes of signing a new winger of their own.

Wolves will now face Lucas Ocampos battle

Wolves, 90Min report, had enquired about the availability of Lucas Ocampos. A familiar name to Molineux matchgoers – Sevilla’s Argentina international poured a bucket of ice water over Nuno Espirito Santo’s Europa League dreams back in 2020 – Ocampos should be available on reduced terms this summer.

The former Ajax loanee has just 12 months left on his contract at cash-strapped Sevilla.

There is also interest from Fulham. Sky Sports say that talks withthe Cottagers are underway regarding a possible £13 million deal. And with confirmation that Solomon will almost certainly not be returning to West London for 2023/24, Ocampos may be the man tasked with filling a Solomon-shaped hole in the left-hand side of Silva’s frontline.

The choice, of course, will be Ocampos’ in the end. The presence of Julen Lopetegui, who got the best out of the well-travelled wideman during his time in the Sevilla dugout, can only be to Wolves’ benefit.

But Solomon’s impending switch to Spurs – and the subsequent requirement for Fulham to find a replacement – is a complication Wolves could have done without.
