Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped up their efforts to land a player from Wolves, having had difficulty with an alternative target.
Wanderers have only sold one player so far this summer, with Max Kilman joining West Ham United for £40 million.
The club are likely to offload a few more before the window closes. But it remains to be seen if another top star will follow Kilman out, or whether it will be fringe players or players who spent last season out on loan.
One player who continues to be the subject of speculation is Pedro Neto. The Portuguese is a target for most of the top clubs in England at present.
Tottenham Hotspur have been strongly linked in recent weeks, and the north London club are now said to be stepping things up.
Tottenham had further negotiations on personal terms over Pedro Neto on Wednesday

It is reported by Football Transfers that Tottenham have now ramped up their efforts to sign Neto this summer.
Apparently, the club held further negotiations over the player on Wednesday regarding personal terms. Presumably, this will have been with Neto’s agent, if true.
Supposedly, Spurs have been having trouble with their pursuit of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and as such, they are now focusing more on Neto. It was recently reported that Wolves would be more willing sellers than Palace.
Before that claim, it was reported that agent Jorge Mendes is ‘expected’ to get the player out of Molineux amid interest from Spurs.
Wolves fans were buoyed earlier this week when Gary O’Neil gave a positive update about £50,000-a-week ace Neto amid all the talk about his future. The manager did not completely rule out Neto being sold, but he did say that he was ‘confident’ that he would be staying.
Wolves must hold firm
Wolves are reported to want around £60 million for Neto.
It was reported earlier this week that Spurs would currently only be willing to pay around £40-45 million for the Portugal international.
It is important that Wolves stick to their asking price, because given the level of interest, it is likely that they will eventually receive a bid that is somewhere close to that figure.
That said, O’Neil’s comments about the player earlier this week felt quite significant. He said that there haven’t been any bids for him yet, and that he was confident the player would be sticking around.
It will be fascinating to see how the next few weeks pan out, because many had expected Neto – branded ‘so dangerous’ by Steve Bull last season – to have been sold by now. Seemingly, there is a very reasonable chance that he could actually stay for at least another season at Molineux, despite interest from Spurs and others.
