Tolu Arokodare tells fans his style of play after completing £24m Wolves transfer

Wolves have their first new player of deadline day through the door, with Tolu Arokodare completing his move from Genk.

It has been a frustrating day for fans, but Wolves have at least now announced Arokodare on a four-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

Arokodare signs as cover and competition for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and it’s also not out of the question they could play up top together.

Some had wondered if the links to Arokodare would mean Strand Larsen would leave.

But that was never the plan. Wolves always wanted to keep Strand Larsen, and the hope now is that Arokodare will hit the ground running.

Arokodare will hopefully prove to be a great signing.

Last term, he plundered 23 goals across all competitions for Genk, and his imposing 6ft 6in frame suggests he could be a real handful.

The player has given his first club interview, and the 24-year-old has told fans what they can expect to see from him and an old gold shirt.

He said: “I think I’ll fit in pretty good. The Premier League is a league full of physicality, high intensity, a lot of runs, and I think I’m that kind of player.

“I think I’m strong, I’m fast. Obviously, the first few games and weeks won’t be the easiest, but it’s a challenge that I think I’m ready for, and I think I’ll fit in pretty good.

“It was time already. I had my mind set here, this is where I wanted to be, because I played in Germany, France, Belgium, and I think it was just here missing, and finally I’m happy to be here.”

Arokodare not currently match fit

Arokodare – who also suggested he has similarities with Strand Larsen – also stated that he is currently not completely match fit, so it could be some weeks before he really gets up to speed.

He said: “I wouldn’t say I’m completely match fit, because I haven’t played more than 30 minutes in a single game, but I’m going to the national team now, and hopefully I get to play games, and if it doesn’t happen, I’ll just try to stay fit and come back and be in top form for the team.”

Wolves fans can catch a glimpse of Arokodare this weekend, with Nigeria taking on Rwanda and then South Africa next Tuesday.
