Tolu Arokodare makes Jorgen Strand Larsen admission after joining Wolves from Genk

We have our first confirmed signing of the day, with Tolu Arokodare officially unveiled as a Wolves player.

It’s been a long day for Wolves fans, incessantly refreshing feeds in the hopes of some news of incomings.

Even though the signing of Tolu Arokodare was all but confirmed, it’s a relief to get the official communication from the club.

And the Nigerian has made an interesting comment on the man he’s coming in to support.

Tolu Arokodare sees similarities with fellow Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen

As is standard practice, Arodokare’s announcement came with a first interview for Wolves’ official website.

The 24-year-old is excited to join the club, and thinks he will be able to slot in well alongside Jorgen Strand Larsen.

He says: “I think I’ll fit in pretty good. If you, for example, look at the strikers that we have now, we’re almost the same profile, so it won’t be difficult for me to adapt.

“You could see how good [Jorgen Strand] Larsen did last season, and I’m just here to help the team.”

At 6’6″, Arokodare is an even more imposing figure than his Norwegian teammate, but the point he makes is a good one.

Seeing Hwang start against West Ham, and again at the weekend, Wolves’ playstyle had to change considerably compared to Strand Larsen’s minutes, but this new striker will be a better tactical fit for Vitor Pereira.

Tolu Arokodare is delighted to join Wolves

When asked for his feelings on the move, Genk’s top scorer was all positive, claiming: “It feels amazing. It did take a while, but I’m here finally, and I’m happy to be here. I didn’t need convincing.

“I know the history of the club and the players that have been here and how they’ve progressed to become better players. I like the project of the club, and that’s what I want for myself. I want to improve and I want to progress, and help this team.”

Arokodare is saying all the right things, and it will be exciting to see him in action after the international break.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t save Wolves’ deadline day. The move was imminent before the day began, so this announcement won’t be enough to satisfy fans’ appetites for transfer news.
