There is now ‘certainty’ that £4m player will leave Wolves as new club join race to sign him

Wolves fans can expect the squad to be looking quite different for 2025/26.

There will be a lot to do for Fosun and the recruitment team, with players leaving when their contracts expire, and others being poached by other clubs for big money.

It will be an important window for Wolves, with Vitor Pereira having been a hugely successful appointment so far.

Fans want to see him backed after the brilliant work he’s done.

But it remains to be seen if that will happen, with Fosun seeking to adopt a self-sustaining approach once again this summer.

One man whose future is the subject of speculation at the moment is Pablo Sarabia.

But it’s now looking as though an exit is far more likely than not.

According to Estadio Deportivo, there is a ‘certainty’ that Sarabia’s deal at Wolves will expire and he will not extend at Molineux.

It’s unclear whether Wolves actually plan to even offer him an extension.

But Sarabia is on ‘eye-watering money’ at Wolves, and there have been suggestions that the club are ready to move him off the wage bill.

Some Wolves fans urged the club to hand Sarabia new contract, following his stunning free-kick against Manchester United at the weekend.

But despite that, and some other great contributions off the bench previously, it looks like Sarabia’s days at Molineux are numbered.

And there is word of a new club entering the race to sign him on a free.

Estadio Deportivo say that Real Sociedad are now keen on landing him when his Wolves contract finishes.

Celta Vigo have previously been credit with an interest in Sarabia, as have Sevilla. So the star will not be short of options this summer.

Sarabia has undeniable quality, but has struggled to show consistency at Wolves

Even before his free-kick against United, Wolves fans knew Sarabia was a player of serious quality.

He is a gifted technician, and someone who can pick passes and score goals like no one else in the team can.

But sadly, since he came to the club in January 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain for just over £4 million (BBC Sport), we just haven’t really seen genuine consistency from the Spaniard.

He had an impressive purple patch last season which lasted from around November to February.

But Sarabia has struggled to sustain good form for prolonged periods at Molineux, and that has been disappointing given his status as an experienced international player, and someone who earns a huge amount.

Wolves may benefit from keeping hold of Sarabia. But it’s hard to see him wanting to stay put since he’d be able to command a big signing-on fee and wages elsewhere.

Data shows he’s averaged just 39 minutes per match this term, and he’ll surely feel he can increase that number by playing elsewhere.
