The two things Wolves must get Rangers to agree to in any Nasser Djiga loan move

Wolves could potentially soon lose another player this summer, with Nasser Djiga linked with Rangers.

Nasser Djiga joined Wolves at the end of the January transfer window, signing from Red Star Belgrade in a deal worth around £10 million.

Djiga joined at the same time as Marshall Munetsi from Reims. But the two players have had vastly different experiences so far at Molineux.

Munetsi quickly established himself as a crucial player for Vitor Pereira.

Some fans have criticised him, but Pereira believes Munetsi unlocked a new level for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and he loves the midfielder’s tireless energy in midfield.

But Djiga didn’t really feature all that much, making just six appearances.

Wolves and Rangers have been in talks over a loan move for Djiga, which is interesting to consider. Some fans have suggested Rangers could be a great move for Djiga, and seemingly, a move is edging closer.

And certainly, there are two things that Wolves really need to get Rangers to agree to.

Wolves need to ensure Djiga plays regularly at Rangers

Rangers would be getting themselves a great prospect with Djiga.

If he is going to go to Ibrox, then it is really important that he plays regularly.

Wolves could potentially look into agreeing some kind of penalty in the event that Djiga does not play games for Rangers.

This is something that Wolves did with Hugo Bueno last season when sending him to Feyenoord.

It was reported Feyenoord would have to pay penalties to Wolves if they did not give Bueno regular game time. The exact specifics were never made public, but Feyenoord did end up handing Bueno 30 appearances, and he likely would have made more had it not been for injuries.

The player has a lot of promise, so Wolves need to ensure their man is going to have a worthwhile loan move.

Wolves must ensure recall option on Djiga

Wolves are not planning to replace Djiga directly if he goes to Rangers.

This is a potentially risky plan from Wolves, which is why the club ought to try and also negotiate a recall option with any loan move.

We have seen in previous seasons how Wolves’ squad has been decimated with injuries midway through campaigns.

Gary O’Neil’s first season at Wolves springs to mind, with Pedro Neto, Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan all suffering hamstring injuries at the same time.

O’Neil was then forced to rely on youth, and Wolves’ momentum in the league completely halted.

So just for a bit of peace of mind, Wolves should seek to negotiate a recall option, as that could remove the need to dip into the transfer market and save the club money.
