The two senior Wolves players who could leave as Rob Edwards’ January plans continue to form

The January window is fast approaching, and Wolves will need to get their business done as early as possible.

Rob Edwards will not have the luxury of being able to wait until the final week of the transfer deadline, as the Old Gold need improvements quickly if they want any chance of a great escape.

With just two points from 17 matches, the likelihood of being out of the bottom three come May is slim, but even without that possibility, there is still a lot of pride to play for.

Matt Doherty has called out his teammates and told them not to go down fighting like cowards, and with the right additions and the right sales, Wolves could give themselves a chance of gaining back some of that pride Doherty refers to.

When it comes to the upcoming window, the state of Wolves’ finances has been revealed.

And now, two senior Wolves players appear to be on the chopping block, as the Old Gold would consider selling them.

Jose Sa and Hwang Hee-chan could leave in January

Jose Sa and Hwang Hee-chan have been on the periphery of the Wolves squad under both Vitor Pereira and Rob Edwards.

With Pereira as head coach, Sa lost his spot as Wolves’ number one to Sam Johnstone, but Edwards gave him a chance to reclaim it with a rare start against Brentford.

The Portuguese put in a good display against the Bees, as the Old Gold’s 2-0 loss could have been much worse without him.

For Hwang, he has seemingly done the same, starting both of Wolves’ last two games and earning praise from Rob Edwards.

But that has done little to protect their status as Old Gold players for the upcoming window, as both could leave.

According to the Athletic, “There are experienced, senior players in the first team who are out of favour and who Wolves would consider parting with for the right deal.

“They include goalkeeper Jose Sa and forward Hwang Hee-chan.”

There could also be further exits at the club this winter. Jackson Tchatchoua has been linked with a return to Italy, and Wolves’ stance on a sale has been revealed.

Additionally, Jorgen Strand Larsen could make a move to Crystal Palace, as the Eagles are monitoring the Norwegian forward.

No surprise that Jose Sa and Hwang Hee-chan are on the transfer list

The exit of Jose Sa seems to have been planned for quite some time. Links to goalkeeper Christos Mandas suggest the 32-year-old’s time at Molineux is coming to a close.

If the Old Gold were to sign Mandas, they would need to move on Sa due to the Premier League’s homegrown rules.

Additionally, Hwang Hee-chan has struggled to replicate his form from the 2023/2024 season, and a January exit for the South Korean would not be much of a surprise.

Hee-chan has been subjected to criticism from supporters over the last year due to poor performances.

However, if the 29-year-old were to leave, bringing in another forward to replace him would be a priority.
