The summer 2025 window will be remembered by Wolves fans for being one of the worst in recent memory.
Wanderers fans were excited for a productive summer after the great work Vitor Pereira did in 2024/25, but there was an exodus at Molineux, and fans have questioned the players that have come in.
Wolves managed to retain Jorgen Strand Larsen which was a major positive, after an intense pursuit by Newcastle United.
But Wolves have brought in players who aren’t Premier League-proven and have taken a real gamble.
A running theme of the summer has been Wolves missing out on players they wanted.
Marc Pubill was close to signing for Wolves before a hijack by Atletico Madrid, and Juanlu Sanchez was also wanted but personal terms couldn’t be agreed.
Another player Wolves wanted to sign was Christantus Uche – but details that have emerged about his failed move to Molineux will have fans glad that he never came.
Why Christantus Uche’s move to Wolves collapsed

Wolves had hoped to sign Uche from Getafe, as the Nigerian star can play in several different positions.
It was reported Wolves reached an agreement to sign Uche for around £17 million.
But a move never materialised – with the salary package offered by Wolves falling ‘far short of expectations’ according to AS.
It is also claimed that the deal left Uche’s agent ‘annoyed’, because it did not earn him the desired commission.
He is then said to have started putting up ‘obstacles’, before blocking the deal entirely.
Uche had actually been due to travel to Wolves on August 26 to finalise a move. But his agent ‘stopped the operation in its tracks’. It’s stated there was no signature, no plane and therefore no transfer – and this is said to have led to ‘enormous’ anger at Getafe.
Previously it has been suggested Jorge Mendes’ behaviour had jeopardised the Uche deal. But it sounds like the agent’s position also contributed to this move falling through.
Uche signs for Crystal Palace
Once Wolves were no longer in the picture, Crystal Palace swooped.
They have taken Uche on loan, and are obligated to buy him next year.
After Wolves tried to sign him it’s going to be interesting to see how he gets on at Selhurst Park, but Wanderers backing away from the move after the agent wasn’t happy is actually to be commended.
We don’t know what Wolves offered in terms of a salary package, but the suggestion that the agent had an issue with the commission is a red flag.
Uche will now look to succeed at Palace, and giving his reasons for signing for the Eagles, he said: “Palace is a team that every young kid wants to play and grow from.
“I chose Palace because it’s a match for me. It’s a perfect match for me. I know that I can bring something and I can grow from it.”
