The transfer window recently closed, and many fans were less than impressed with what Wolves did in the summer 2025 window.
Wolves’ squad looks a lot weaker now, with big-name players having departed.
Mavericks like Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri will be huge losses, and then the losses of experienced heads such as Nelson Semedo and Pablo Sarabia will also sting.
Wolves brought in six new faces, and the hope is that they can all hit the ground running as quickly as possible.
But so far, Wolves have lost every game in the Premier League this season.
Defensively, Wolves have been all over the place, with the form of Emmanuel Agbadou especially concerning after he was so good last term.
Wolves at least have good depth in terms of centre-backs – and Vitor Pereira has made a defiant remark about his pool of defenders.
Vitor Pereira intends to keep his six centre-back options for the whole season

After the summer, Wolves now have six centre-back options.
There are Agbadou, Toti Gomes, Matt Doherty, Santiago Bueno, Yerson Mosquera and new signing Ladislav Krejci, who impressed on his debut against Newcastle.
Agbadou and Toti have played every Premier League game so far, but both need to improve drastically before they get dropped.
But it’s good for Pereira to have the depth so that he can do that, and the manager has said that he does not intend to let any of these six players leave before the end of the 2025/26 season.
He said: “We have six players for three positions and this is what I want to have.
“I don’t have any intention to lose any defenders.”
Bueno and Mosquera may not welcome Pereira comments
It is interesting to hear Pereira say this, as if to make it very clear to the six players that leaving in January is not an option.
Perhaps Pereira’s comments will have more significance for two of these players more than the others.
Santiago Bueno was linked with an exit in the summer but he ended up staying. So far, he’s only made a few appearances and may not want the door to be closed in January.
If he’s not playing at least semi-regularly, then he might want to leave on loan – especially with a World Cup taking place next year.
Wolves centre-backs minutes played (all competitions) this season |
Emmanuel Agbadou – 450 |
Toti Gomes – 319 |
Santiago Bueno – 214 |
Matt Doherty – 198 |
Yerson Mosquera – 138 |
Ladislav Krejci – 90 |
Mosquera may also not particularly welcome Pereira’s comments.
Pereira has hinted Mosquera will be used on a rotation basis this season, and the Colombian may also want the door left open in January for a potential loan move, in case he’s not playing as much as he’d like.
Like Bueno, Mosquera will also have his eye on playing at the World Cup next summer.
