The reported Nuno Espirito Santo January transfer plot that will alert Wolves fans

Wolves are currently hoping that the teams just above them in the Premier League table don’t pull further clear, and one plan Nuno Espirito Santo has at West Ham United may have some supporters feeling nervous.

At the moment, Wolves are rock bottom of the Premier League table.

They have taken just two points from the first 11 games, and Vitor Pereira was recently sacked as head coach.

The search has been on for Wolves to find a replacement and, after Gary O’Neil withdrew from the process, the club then moved for Rob Edwards.

Edwards will be confirmed soon, and he will be tasked with trying to keep Wolves up.

It’s a huge job that lies in wait, and we’ll see if Edwards has what it takes.

One thing that would really help him is if those teams just above Wolves don’t pull too far clear, with West Ham United one such team that are still in the mix to go down.

But Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly now plotting something that could leave some Wolves fans slightly uncomfortable.

Nuno Espirito Santo wants to reunite with Adama Traore at West Ham

In the summer of 2023, Adama Traore left Wolves after he ran down his contract.

Wolves had presented multiple contract offers to the player, but he ultimately wanted to move on.

He joined Fulham on a three-year contract and in January, he’ll only have 18 months left on that deal, meaning the Cottagers might be looking to offload him.

According to Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports, West Ham and Nuno are waiting in the wings.

He said on X: “#Whufc interested in a possible deal for #Fulham’s Adama Traore in January. Nuno has a very close relationship with the winger from #wwfc days, and has tried to sign him before.

“Deal could be done, with Traore contract expiring this summer.”

This is news that may concern Wolves fans, because obviously this is a pairing we have seen have success before.

Traore came to Wolves in 2018 from Middlesbrough, and quickly established himself as one of the most frightening wingers in the Premier League.

Sure, his end product was lacking at times. But at the very least, Traore was a total handful for defenders, and he perfectly suited Nuno’s counter-attack style.

Appearances – 131
Minutes played – 7987
Goals – 10
Assists – 18

There is little doubt that the best football Traore played in his career came under Nuno at Wolves.

He played 131 times under Nuno, scoring 10 goals and making 18 assists – he hasn’t made more goal contributions under any other manager in his career.

West Ham signing Traore in January could be a masterstroke, and is something that could ultimately help them in their bid to pull away from the relegation zone and be one less team for Wolves to worry about.
