It’s safe to say Jhon Arias has had an underwhelming start to life at Wolves – and one journalist has been speaking about his immediate future amid links to Flamengo.
Jhon Arias was Wolves’ second signing of the 2025 summer window, joining from Fluminense for around £19 million in total.
There was real excitement over the Arias transfer.
The 28-year-old had long impressed over in Brazil with Fluminense and was viewed as one of the top players in the top-flight.
He then had some good outings at the Club World Cup.
Unfortunately though, Arias has not been able to hit the ground running at Wolves and is yet to score or assist for his new club.
In recent weeks, Arias has surprisingly been linked with an early exit from Wolves amid his struggles – but one update from Jorge Nicola should hopefully put an end to the speculation.
Jhon Arias has had no contact with Flamengo, he’s determined to become a Premier League success at Wolves

Arias was a player Vitor Pereira was very keen to sign, having seen him up close in Brazil.
The Colombia international is a top player, but so far he’s been unable to replicate the form that made him a household name in Brazil.
Of course, there are genuine factors behind Arias’ slow start.
He already played a lot of football in 2025 before his move to Molineux, and he’s also been navigating the transition of moving to a new country and learning the language.
Jorge Nicola – a top Brazilian journalist with 1.4 million YouTube subscribers – has been speaking about Arias in a new video, and he makes it clear that there is next to no chance of Arias leaving Wolves in January.
On the Flamengo links, he said: “There are already Flamengo reporters reporting definitively that Arias has entered the club’s plans.
“I can assure you that there is no conversation, at least not yet, especially since he dreamed of playing European football. To leave Fluminense for Wolverhampton, he gave up money.
“The guy was so determined, so obsessed with playing in the Premier League that he agreed to receive less.
“The problem with the team is that this possibility of Flamengo signing him isn’t working out. It wasn’t discussed internally. Partly because Flamengo knows Arias no intention of returning to Brazilian football any time soon.”
Relegation will likely mean Arias leaves Wolves
So it looks highly unlikely that Arias will be jumping ship in January, with Nicola making it clear that the player is hell-bent on succeeding in the Premier League, which was been a dream of his.
Nicola does point out that Wolves’ potential relegation will likely change the picture though.
If Wolves go down, Arias will more than likely leave the club – but that will surely be the case for a large chunk of players in the squad.

Arias has shown glimpses of his talent but we’re still waiting on him to become a key figure in this team.
His defensive work has been relatively good, but zero goal contributions so far is disappointing. He’s come close to opening his account for the club, such as against Burnley on Sunday with that superb free-kick.
Perhaps once that first goal does go in, that will be the catalyst for Arias
