The new clause and fees Liverpool are demanding for Wolves to sign Harvey Elliot this summer

Wolves fans are clamouring for new signings, and Harvey Elliott has been among the targets for the club this summer.

Wolves have brought in just one player so far, with Fer Lopez joining from Celta Vigo.

Lopez signed for £19.5 million, and became the club’s ninth-most expensive transfer.

Hopes are high that Lopez can hit the ground running fairly quickly, but he will certainly need time to adapt.

But Lopez is already doing individual work out in Marbella, suggesting that he could well be making an impact from the off.

Wolves are thought to want another number 10 after Lopez, and as we are now in July, the hope is that some headway will be made on that.

Harvey Elliott is a player Wolves like, but a new claim has dropped today that will make any move to Wolves even harder.

Elliott made headlines once again at the weekend, as he scored in the U21s Euro final against Germany for England.

It has been a fantastic tournament for the 22-year-old with data indicating several strong performances. And that is very good news for Liverpool, who are ready to hear offers for him this summer.

It was claimed recently that Liverpool value Elliott north of £40 million.

That potentially puts him out of Wolves’ price range.

But now, another claim has been made that may make a move to Wolves even more unlikely.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool would demand a buy-back clause on Elliott if the transfer fee was over £40 million, but not if a club was willing to pay £50 million.

Seemingly, they rate Elliott highly and want to protect themselves later down the line.

Elliott to Wolves seems a world away

We have already seen Liverpool make some big sales this summer.

Jarell Quansah is going to Bayer Leverkusen for an initial £30 million, plus £5 million in add-ons. Liverpool are also inserting a buy-back clause, which makes the claim about Elliott no surprise.

Elliott to Wolves was unlikely anyway, but this claim now surely makes a deal even less likely.

And it’s a shame because Elliott – previously branded ;outstanding by Alan Shearer (via BBC Sport) – could well be a brilliant fit for that left 10 role.

Molineux News was told previously that Wolves see Elliott as a great fit for their team. But the finances involved are going to prove prohibitive.
