Wolves fans are hoping to see new faces arrive at the club in the coming days – but it looks as though Carlos Forbs could be set to leave.
Forbs joined the club on loan from Ajax last summer, becoming the club’s final addition of the window.
It was a signing that excited supporters, with Forbs essentially coming in as Pedro Neto’s replacement.
But up to now, he’s made just 10 appearances for the club and started only one Premier League game.
Forbs just hasn’t been able to convince Gary O’Neil or Vitor Pereira that he should be getting more opportunities, and now it’s been suggested Forbs could return to Ajax by cutting short his loan.
Many Wolves fans think Forbs should indeed return to Ajax, and at this point, it’s hard to argue in favour of him sticking around.
His move to Molineux has been highly disappointing, and even more so when you realise what Matt Hobbs said when the player first signed.
Matt Hobbs said Carlos Forbs’ move to Wolves was a year in the making

When Forbs signed for Wolves, Matt Hobbs gave an interview with the club’s official website about his latest capture.
Hobbs always comments when the club sign a new player, and what he said about Forbs feels somewhat significant now.
He said at the time: “It’s one we’ve been looking at over the summer. The player’s always been keen to come here. So, he’s always been a bit excited about the project. Probably one that, after maybe getting priced out of a few other moves, that with his availability being now, we had the opportunity to maybe take advantage of that.
“When he was at Man City, before Ajax, he was a player we wanted to sign that summer, but Ajax could pay more money than us. This has actually been a year in the making really. Obviously, coming through the City academy, he has a great education and is homegrown.
“He was one we definitely wanted to try and do last summer, and then Ajax made a great offer for him and he got a great move to a huge club, and now we get the opportunity to bring him in. So, maybe it’s just a year delayed.”
Clearly, there was huge intent from Wolves for a long time to sign Forbs. So for him to now be potentially heading back to Ajax after just five months makes the situation all the more disappointing.
Hobbs also admitted that Wolves had the ‘same hope’ for Forbs that they had for Neto when he first signed from Braga.
In the end, it’s safe to say Neto and Forbs had completely different experiences at Molineux.
Wolves will need another forward if Forbs seals Ajax return
A lot of the focus is currently on Wolves signing another central defender in the final days of the transfer market.
But if Forbs does indeed return to Ajax as the player himself wants, then the club could do with landing another forward in the transfer market.
We know that Jorgen Strand Larsen has just picked up an injury. Although it’s not thought to be serious, Strand Larsen has played a lot of football this season and will need some backup.
Hwang Hee-chan has struggled this season, as has Pablo Sarabia. And Rodrigo Gomes has sometimes been used as a wing-back.
So there’s scope for Wolves to potentially sign another forward, but fans will not hold their breath.
