The loan fee Wolves must pay for Chelsea striker Armando Broja

It is being widely reported this morning that Wolves have been quoted a loan fee of £5 million to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea for the rest of the season.

Broja has emerged as a target again for Wanderers, after the club reportedly walked away from a deal for Yuri Alberto.

Apparently, the finances involved in signing Alberto just weren’t suitable.

So Wolves have become linked with Broja again this morning, after the club had initially been reluctant to come back in for him, but there has been another development this morning, which perhaps makes a deadline day move unlikely…

It is being widely reported now that Wolves will need to pay a £5 million loan fee if they are to sign Broja today.

Express & Star journalist Liam Keen has reported this on X, saying: “Chelsea are asking for a £5m loan fee to let Broja leave. As it stands, that means a move to Wolves is unlikely. Ben Jacobs has also reported Chelsea would like a £5 million fee if Broja is to move on a straight loan.

Both journalists rate the chances for Broja to move to Wolves as ‘unlikely’, given these demands.

Wolves should walk away if £5m loan fee is true

So Chelsea are wanting £5m to loan out Broja for the rest of the season, and Wolves definitely need to walk away.

That is a huge fee to sign a player who has had limited game time this term and scored just two goals, for just four months.

At the moment, Wolves are in a good position and are not desperate for new recruits. New faces would be nice, but they are not essential because of the great work Gary O’Neil has done. At the moment, Wolves are sitting 11th in the Premier League table on 29 points, and there may be a potential to push for Europe. There is surely no danger of a relegation battle this season.

Wolves should not be entertaining signing Broja if Chelsea want a £5 million loan fee. It is too much to pay, for a player who hasn’t particularly performed this season and a player who may ultimately not deliver.

We also know that Wolves are still in a precarious position financially, so surely the club won’t be paying such a fee.
