The Jhon Arias comments that hint at potential Wolves cult hero status as internal feeling at Molineux shared

Wolves are set to announce the signing of Jhon Arias very soon.

After weeks of waiting following the signing of Fer Lopez, Wanderers will confirm their second addition of the window, with Arias coming in from Fluminense.

Arias was seen at a Brazilian airport on Monday, and is believed to have done medical tests in Paris today.

It is only a matter of time now before the Colombian is announced by Wolves.

Fluminense have already confirmed the Arias transfer on their side, and fans can’t wait for those first photographs of him in an old gold shirt.

There is real excitement about this signing, because Arias is a proven player who can make an impact now.

Journalist Liam Keen has shared something that people around the deal are already saying about the player, and it makes for very encouraging listening.

Arias is a player who will bring a lot of things to this Wolves team.

He has great numbers for Fluminense, scoring 47 goals and making 55 assists in 230 appearances for the club.

He is versatile, and can play anywhere in the final third.

He’s got technical ability and physicality, and he also has a very good injury record.

But there is something else about Arias that has people around this deal quite excited, with Liam Keen speaking of the player on the latest E&S podcast.

He said: “Looking at the sort of person (behind the player), and the people we’ve spoken to around the deal and around the club and obviously what you see from doing your research on the player is, he’s got a lot of heart – and that’s exactly what Wolves fans want.

“They want a player that’s going to wear their heart on their sleeve, that’s going to fight and battle and work hard, exactly like the people of Wolverhampton do.

“We’ve spoken to a few people pretty close to it, who are very excited about the kind of player that Vitor Pereira is going to have in his arsenal.”

The comments that suggest Arias could quickly become a cult hero for Wolves

Arias has spoken about leaving Fluminense, and it is so clear to see why he was so popular and had such a great relationship with their fans.

He said (via GE Globo): “When time passes, you start building an identity with the club, with the fans, with daily life. I was doing things on the pitch that went beyond the rational. There were matches where I played with less than 24 hours of rest after travelling with the national team. That’s physically almost impossible, but I managed it, because it was for Fluminense.

“I played with joy, affection, calm. Things happened that I could only do wearing that shirt.”

These comments are a big green flag, and indicate he has the potential to quickly become a cult hero at Molineux.

He clearly felt a very strong attachment and affinity to Fluminense and therefore gave absolutely everything for them.

Wolves fans will now hope he can do the same for them.
