The club that has shown the most interest in Ben Godfrey so far as Wolves eye transfer

Wolves fans are looking forward to a strong January transfer, after a poor start to the 2024/25 season.

Currently, Wolves sit 17th in the Premier League table and are just a point clear of Ipswich Town in 18th.

Vitor Pereira recently came in as Gary O’Neil’s replacement and has enjoyed a very positive start, taking seven points from a possible nine.

His arrival has given some Wolves fans new optimism for 2025, and the hope is that the new manager will be backed well this month.

It’s thought Wolves will try and back Pereira with two new defensive recruits in January, with Wolves currently only having three senior options.

Kevin Danso is thought to be Wolves’ top target.

But Wolves have also been linked with Ben Godfrey – and there’s competition for the Atalanta man.

It was claimed Wolves were one of several clubs looking at signing Godfrey this month.

He is set to leave Atalanta having failed to nail down a regular starting place. Nottingham Forest were also mentioned as being keen.

But journalist Rudy Galetti has provided an update today about Godfrey and the interest in him right now.

And he says the club with the most interest in him right now is actually Tottenham Hotspur. He said: “Tottenham have shown the most interest in Ben Godfrey, as they consider the Atalanta player among the possible reinforcements for the defence.

“Wolves, who are also looking for a CB, have also asked for updated information on him.”

Wolves signing Godfrey and Danso would be huge

This is a really big window for Wolves, who are still in a very precarious position despite a positive start to life at Molineux by Pereira.

It’s vital Wolves get their recruitment right, just as they did this time two years ago when the likes of Craig Dawson and Mario Lemina came in while Wolves were struggling.

Godfrey would potentially be a great addition given the fact he knows the Premier League.

He is also athletic, and was previously described as the fastest player at Everton by Alex Iwobi.

If Wolves were somehow able to get both Godfrey and Danso in this month, then that would be a huge statement.

They both have fantastic physical attributes and are ball-players, and hopefully, Wolves can elbow aside Tottenham Hotspur and get Godfrey over the line.
