Transfer News

‘Thank goodness’… Wolves fans are completely divided as major update emerges from Molineux

Wolves are set for a thrilling summer transfer window as Vitor Pereira is left with important decisions.

Of course, Matheus Cunha is set to leave Wolves, with Manchester United in the driving seat to sign the 17-goal Brazilian.

Tommy Doyle also has an uncertain future, which is set to be decided in the coming weeks after falling down the pecking order under Vitor Pereira.

Doyle has Championship interest, including from Sunderland, who could come back in for the 23-year-old this summer.

While those two stars are likely to depart, someone out on loan is also nailed on to exit Molineux after an uneventful five years at the club.

Wolves fans react as Fabio Silva set to leave Molineux permanently

Fabio Silva is starring on loan at Las Palmas this term after hitting double figures for the Spanish side.

By contrast, he’s scored just five goals in 72 appearances for Wolves since joining for a club-record £35 million in 2020.

Silva has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and other clubs across Europe due to his searing form, and now the E&S report that the 22-year-old is likely to leave permanently.

“Thank goodness that sorry episode is almost over with,” one relieved fan wrote.

“Possibly £ for £ the worst signing in history. Will never be good enough for EPL stay in Spain or a doodle league. Won’t be missed that’s an absolute certainty!” another exclaimed.

“Wonderful news,” a third reacted.

For some supporters, though, there is a sense of what could have been if Silva leaves, feeling he deserved another chance under Pereira.

“Must be a replacement else we will regret this,” someone else said.

“Think it’s the right decision. He’s had a decent season so we should be able to recoup a good chunk of the fee. If he came back & it didn’t work out then where does that leave us,” a sixth replied.

“That’s fine. But we have to sign another CF now we know that Fabio won’t be saying,” another demanded.

What fee Wolves want for Silva

Realistically, with his contract expiring in 2026, this is the best time to sell the Portuguese striker while his stock is high.

It’s been reported that Wolves want £21 million for Silva, losing around £14 million on what they paid, but it’s some consolation after his wretched time at the club.

Most supporters would be happy if they received that fee, although Wolves must insert a sell-on clause on Silva’s contract to avoid missing out in the future.

The young striker has the potential to become a lethal scorer in Europe, as demonstrated by his performances at Las Palmas, relaying a sense of sadness that he won’t reach the peak of his powers at Wolves.
