Dion Sanderson has spoken of his desire to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League – and Sunderland fans have been reacting.
The 21-year-old is currently really imrpessing on loan at the Stadium of Light.
Sanderson had a tricky start in terms of game time, but is now a regular in the starting XI.
His recent form has been key to the club’s rise up the League One table, and automatic promotion is now well within reach for the club, who are currently in third.
Sanderson has won a string of Man of the Match awards in recent weeks.
He is undoubtedly having a good time at Sunderland, and many fans have already been clamouring for him to be signed permanently this summer.
But that doesn’t appear to be the main priority for Sanderson, who has told the official Wolves website: “If the opportunity to play for Wolves presented itself, I would take it. Wolves have been my boyhood club, and it’s where I see myself in the future.
“I definitely see myself in the Premier League.”
It was been reported previously (Daily Mail) that Sunderland do indeed want to sign Sanderson on a permanent transfer, but his latest comments suggest it may be difficult for them.
That said, it obviously depends on what Wolves want to do with the young talent.
On social media, some Sunderland fans expressed their sadness about the idea of Sanderson leaving their club and not coming back:
Anyone who thinks we have a chance of signing him permanently are dumb, the lad will be starting for Wolves in the Premier League in the next 2 years

Don’t blame him. I love him but he’s definitely premier league quality or close to it. Would be a big miss
