Che Adams has been speaking about the summer transfer window he had, after Wolves reportedly tried to sign him right at the end of it.
Wanderers had a frantic finish to the last window thanks to the late swoop Manchester City made for Matheus Nunes, who had gone on strike days before.
City came in for the Portuguese midfielder but Wolves were trying to get a fair price given the late stage of the window. In the end, Wanderers managed to sell Nunes for a club-record £53 million, which paved the way for four new faces.
Enso Gonzalez and Santiago Bueno joined the day before deadline day, while Tommy Doyle and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde came in just hours before the window closed.
Wolves did attempt to sign one other player, but Southampton ultimately blocked the club from signing Che Adams.
Adams has now spoken about those final hours of the window…
Che Adams speaks out after Wolves reportedly tried to sign him in the summer

Adams has given an interview with the Telegraph about what went down in the summer.
It was reported by David Ornstein that Southampton blocked Wolves from signing Adams. The proposal from Wolves was apparently to take the Scotland striker on loan, with a £15 million option to buy that could have become an obligation.
Interestingly in the Telegraph’s interview with the striker, it is stated that the Saints turned down an £18 million offer from Wolves, while Everton and Bournemouth saw £15 million offers rejected.
Adams said: “I think there was a lot of interest over the summer but nothing got over the line. It was actually a relief when the window closed because everything was over and it meant me and my family were more settled.
“My focus is fully here. From the minute the window closed to up until we get promoted – hopefully – I am fully concentrated on Southampton.”
Wolves have managed fine without Adams
Most Wolves fans aren’t really too bothered that the club did not sign Adams in the summer.
While Adams did have Premier League experience, he was never prolific in the division with Southampton, scoring just 25 goals in 124 games.
Wolves were unable to bring in a centre-forward, but so far this season Gary O’Neil has managed to get a tune out of his attacking players, with Hwang Hee-chan the star of the show on the goalscoring front. The South Korean has bagged six in the league so far, with Sasa Kalajdzic and Matheus Cunha also chipping in a couple each.
From his interview with the Telegraph you get the sense that Adams is pretty committed to the cause at St. Mary’s Stadium, despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.
So it remains to be seen if Wolves will make a fresh attempt to sign him in January – it was suggested recently that this is something the club could look to do.
