‘Statement signing’… Wolves fans seriously excited over who’s just been linked with Molineux move

Fans are hoping to see Wolves’ transfer window spring into life soon – and one transfer rumour has gone down well extremely well with supporters.

Fer Lopez is the only signing so far at Wolves, arriving from Celta Vigo in a move worth just under £20 million.

Following that transfer there was clamour for more new faces, but Wolves have been silent on the incomings front.

But journalist Liam Keen gave a promising Wolves transfer update yesterday, reporting that the club are now closing in on a couple of deals. But the identity of those players currently remains unclear.

Last night, it was claimed that Wolves had interest in Jhon Arias of Fluminense.

The Colombian winger has been in action at the Club World Cup, and has caught the eye with two goal involvements in six matches.

It remains to be seen if Wolves will test Fluminense’s resolve with a bid, and fans have now had their say about him on social media.

Wolves are in need of some more firepower, having lost Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia.

Arias tends to play mainly from the right side, but can also operate through the middle – and that versatility is sure to appeal to Vitor Pereira, who wants to hand cover and competition to Jorgen Strand Larsen.

On social media, word has spread to fans of Wolves’ interest in Arias.

And it’s safe to say that he is a player many would simply love to see come to Molineux.

@bottyy05: “Get this done!”

@Dan__Vincent: “Get him in!!”

@MolineuxExpress: “Jhon Arias is the Cunha replacement but plays similar to Adama Traore. That ability to bring the ball from deep, get past four of five and create chances. Wolves need that. He has the experience also at 27 reaching his prime. This is the statement signing Wolves need.”

@OldWolfie75: “If true, this will be a top drawer signing. He has been excellent in the Club World Cup. He plays in a wing/CAM role and loves to attack defences. Can put in a decent cross, too.”

Andre could help Wolves to sign Arias

Arias is the kind of player Wolves need at the moment.

He’s impressed at the Club World Cup, and is one of Fluminense’s best players, capable of playing in a variety of positions.

Wolves need someone with a bit more experience and at the age of 27, Arias would be ready to make an impact immediately.

Obviously, there would still be a transition period, coming to the Premier League from the Brazilian top-flight.

Appearances – 229
Goals – 47
Assists – 55

But hopefully, he would be able to settle quite quickly.

And one man who could help him to do that is Andre, who of course made the same move last year.

Andre has already proven himself to be one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier league, so hopefully he can convince Arias to follow him to Molineux.

Yerson Mosquera also knows Arias from the Colombia national team, so potentially this transfer rumour could have legs.
