Some Wolves fans are not happy about the current Jose Sa situation as new claim is made

A peculiar situation has come up at Wolves, and there are some fans who don’t particularly like what they are seeing.

The summer transfer window saw Wanderers sign Sam Johnstone on deadline day.

The goalkeeper sealed a move to Molineux for around £10 million, and he has already made his debut against Nottingham Forest.

Johnstone gave a solid account of himself at the weekend, and Nelson Semedo even suggested after the game that he looks like he has been at the club for a lot longer.

Johnstone has been suggested as a good signing for Wolves. But his incoming has not pleased absolutely everybody.

For many, he is not a major upgrade on Jose Sa, who now finds himself in a very odd position at the club.

Sa had been lined up for a move to Saudi Arabia. But in the end, that move did not happen and he is now set to remain at the club until January. Unless he heads to a Turkish club, with their window still open until September 13.

An interesting claim was made yesterday about Dan Bentley. He is set to sign a contract extension at Molineux, and keep his position as the number two.

With Johnstone having come in, Sa is seemingly now in limbo – and some fans don’t like how this looks.

Supposedly, Wolves are preparing to trigger their option to extend Bentley’s contract by two years.

This, after he was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer.

Johnstone has clearly been brought in to compete for the number one jersey, so this makes things very complicated indeed now for Sa, whose position in the squad is very unclear.

He was left out by Gary O’Neil against Forest on Saturday, with the manager stating that it had been an unsettling period for Sa.

It will be fascinating to see if he is named in the squad for the game with Newcastle United after the international break.

Some fans have been discussing the situation on social media and are not comfortable with Sa’s treatment.

A bad look for Wolves

Something really just isn’t adding up with the Sa situation.

Both O’Neil and Matt Hobbs have talked about him competing with Johnstone, and now it is being claimed that he could even fall behind Bentley in the pecking order.

It is a bit of a mess, and one wonders what has gone on behind the scenes.

There are also sorts of rumours flying around at the moment, including suggestions that Sa wanted out and Wolves did not accept any bids for the player, thus angering him.

Nobody knows right now and we will have to wait and see how it plays out. But it is not going to be a good look if Sa is not in that first squad back after the international break.

While some do feel Sa can be hit-and-miss, he is a better goalkeeper than Bentley and should at least be the number two if Johnstone is going to be starting.
