It’s less than a week till the summer transfer window slams shut and Wolves are running out of time to address some key areas in their squad.
Wolves are on the verge of making a fourth addition to their side in the shape of 18-year-old defender Bastien Meupiyou but there are still multiple glaring issues.
The most pressing are key replacements for captain Max Kilman and winger Pedro Neto, who were sold for a combined £94 million.
There is hope that some of that money will be reinvested into the squad, as Gary O’Neil dropped a promising transfer update, where he suggested that there’s no ‘financial limit’ to their spending.
Wolves have since outlined Carlos Forbs as their ‘priority’ replacement for Neto and a defender is on their radar but they aren’t the only positions that could be strengthened.
Michael Dawson thinks Wolves target Aaron Ramsdale would be an upgrade on Jose Sa
The Old Gold have also enquired about signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who lost his place as number one to David Raya last term.
Ramsdale only made six Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season and is looking for a route out of the Emirates in search of regular first-team football.
Former goalkeeper Emi Martinez believes that the 26-year-old should sign for Wolves, as the Argentine labelled it a ‘good move’ for both parties.

Likewise, Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson shared a similar viewpoint and he believes that Ramsdale would be an ‘improvement’ on current first-choice Jose Sa.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (24/08/2024 12:11 pm), Dawson said: “Is he an improvement on Jose Sa? Yeah, he is. Jose Sa has been a very good goalkeeper for Wolves. We are speculating about this and obviously Wolves are looking at it, the option of taking him there.”
Since arriving in 2021, Sa has mostly been the number one at Molineux and was vital for O’Neil in 2023/24. Therefore, it’s surprising for Dawson to suggest he’s an upgrade in that department.
Wolves don’t need to sign another goalkeeper
Some supporters have aimed criticism towards the Portuguese shot-stopper, as his distribution can often let him down and he can be quite erratic.
However, Sa committed his long-term future to the club in September last year, with the 31-year-old signing a four-year contract.
That is despite the gloveman attracting interest from abroad, with multiple Saudi clubs wanting to land the Portuguese goalkeeper.
At the moment, it isn’t a priority for Wolves to sign a goalkeeper and a move for the ‘phenomenal’ Ramsdale to Molineux isn’t well suited to the promises he’s after.
The Englishman wants to be playing week in and week out. With Sa between the sticks, he’d have to bide his time.
A move for Ramsdale is therefore only viable if the former Olympiacos goalkeeper leaves, and that is highly unlikely at this stage of the window.
