Wolves technical director Scott Sellars has given his verdict on the club’s season so far, and hailed the work of Bruno Lage.
Wanderers are currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table, having amassed 46 points so far. That’s one more than the whole of last season.
Few could really have expected better, given the brilliant work Nuno Espirito Santo did at the club.
Obviously last season was a real struggle for various reasons.
But he left big shoes to fill, but Lage has come in and done a sterling job up to now.
He’s made some mistakes along the way but, by and large, the boss looks to have tremendous potential.
One of the most striking things about Lage is just how hard he works.
It’s been said before how he spends long days at the training ground going over things that will hopefully improve the team.
And now, Sellars has given a glowing verdict on the man he played a part in hiring.
He told the Express & Star: “Him and his staff, their work ethic is amazing. He’s a very good teacher at showing people what he wants and the players really respond to what he’s trying to do.
“I think the players have really developed this year and kicked on. Being in eighth place we won’t complain. But as every team will be saying with a couple points here and there we’d be even higher.
“Overall the performance of the team has been excellent this season so far.”
Bruno Lage deserves to be backed this summer at Wolves
Sellars clearly appreciates the job Lage is doing at Wolves.
He really has done great things so far, and arguably Wolves should be even higher up the table.
Perhaps that is something that can happen next season if Lage is well backed in the summer transfer window.
Realistically, the manager has earned the right for the club to splash out of a bit this summer.
He has stated publicly several times that he wants a competitive squad with quality players in each position.
If Sellars and the others are so pleased with what he has done so far, they should surely help him take the team to the next level.
