Wolverhampton Wanderers are being linked with a move for Monza star Dany Mota.
Forza Monza claim Jorge Mendes is seeking to take the 23-year-old to Molineux this summer.
The player has a few years left on his current contract. But it is thought a transfer could still happen.
Mendes is said to have met with Monza CEO Adriano Galliani in recent days to discuss the situation.
Mota is name that will be unfamiliar to many.
But his stature is growing. He recently made headlines for his performances at the U21 European Championships with Portugal.
He scored three goals. Two of those came against Patrick Cutrone’s Italy.
After that game, U21s boss Rui Jorge really talked up Mota.
He said (via Observador): “Dany [Mota] has been doing an extraordinary journey with us. He is not a very elegant player, one of those players that draws a lot of attention, but he is very valuable for a coach and for a team.
“He returned to make another great game and helped in many moments, offensive and defensive.
“He is very strong in the air, despite not being very tall, and works tremendously up front and has a goal. Today he scored a fabulous goal.”
Encouraging words on Mota
It’s good to hear such praise for Mota, amid transfer links to Wolves.
His potential signing this summer would be a risk given he currently players his football in Serie B.
But Jorge’s testimony has to count for a lot, since he’s worked with him closely over the past couple of years.
