Midfielder Ruben Neves is expected back for pre-season at Wolves, with the star looking ever more likely to stay at the club.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks.
Neves enjoyed a tremendous 2021/22 campaign, taking his game to a new level under Bruno Lage.
The star was a regular standout, and it has been anticipated by many that he would be sold this summer after five years at the club.
Neves cut an emotional figure after the final two games of the season.
After the final game with Liverpool, Neves made comments that suggested he expected to be moving on.
But so far, there have been no bids incoming for the £16 million maestro.
And the Birmingham Mail’s Alex Dicken now reports that Neves is expected back for pre-season training, which would perhaps point towards the player staying for the 2022/23 season.
Currently, Wolves have a handful of players back at Compton Park.
The players that were on international duty after the 2021/22 season finished are expected back in the coming days.
Wolves set to keep Ruben Neves with star expected back for pre-season?
Neves could yet leave Molineux, with the transfer window open for another two months yet.
But Neves returning for pre-season would potentially point to him staying at the club.
The Athletic did report recently that it was increasingly likely that Neves would be remaining at Molineux.
It remains to be seen if Wolves can keep hold of him. But so far, it seems the asking price is putting off potential suitors.
Seeing Neves back at the club for pre-season and preparing for the new campaign would certainly be welcomed by a lot of people.
