Rob Edwards responds when asked if he’s worried Jorgen Strand Larsen could actually leave Wolves

Earlier this week Jorgen Strand Larsen was the subject of transfer speculation – and Wolves manager Rob Edwards was asked about that in his press conference on Tuesday.

Wolves are gearing up to face Liverpool on Saturday, with Rob Edwards looking to finally get a point on the board.

It’s six defeats in six for Edwards which is disappointing.

Wolves fans, has the recent criticism of Jorgen Strand Larsen been overboard?

However, there have been some signs of improvement. Although, the statistic that Wolves have been drawing in each of those games at half-time, before going on to lose, is concerning.

One thing Edwards really needs to do is get a tune out of his attacking players. In training last week, Edwards was heard demanding more ruthlessness – and one player he could do with seeing that from is Strand Larsen.

Strand Larsen is the subject of transfer speculation right now, and this was put to Edwards on Tuesday.

Strand Larsen has been linked with West Ham United this week. The Irons have just loaned out Niclas Fullkrug to AC Milan.

Everton have also been monitoring Strand Larsen, with their strikers Thierno Barry and Beto scoring just two Premier League goals between them.

Strand Larsen almost left Wolves in the summer when Newcastle pursued him, and now there is fresh speculation.

Will Wolves get £40m for Strand Larsen or is that wishful thinking? 👀

But Edwards seemed relatively unfazed yesterday when asked about it.

He said: “It’s difficult for him. But he’s battling on. His attitude has been really good around the place here. He’s working hard. A couple of the staff members have spoken to him, I’m not always going to do that every single day. A couple of the guys have spoken to him and had conversations with him as well. He’s got to work his way through it.

“I’m not worried. We’ll take every situation in January, every individual on an individual basis. We’ll see. I’m sure there will be interest in a few of our players, even though we’re in the situation that we’re in. It doesn’t concern me.”

Wolves want £40m for Strand Larsen

So Edwards doesn’t seem overly concerned that he could be losing his number nine in January.

It has been reported that Wolves would demand around £40 million to sell Strand Larsen, which is a lot of money considering the season he’s had.

It remains to be seen if someone comes in and offers that much, but it feels somewhat unlikely. West Ham are already said to have balked at that asking price.

Edwards has continually backed Strand Larsen. But it’s going to be interesting to see if he starts against Liverpool this weekend, with calls loud for him to be dropped.
