Wolves have a long-standing interest in AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott, and Rob Edwards could be the key.
Parrott’s stock has never been higher.
He scored five goals in two games over the international break to take the Republic of Ireland to the World Cup playoffs.
Wolves wanted to sign Parrott at the beginning of summer, after a stellar debut season with AZ that saw him reach 18 goals in the Eredivisie and Europa League.
That interest died down after Parrott indicated his desire to stay in Holland, and Wolves signed Tolu Arokodare from Genk instead. They also technically signed Jorgen Strand Larsen, making his loan move to Molineux permanent.
But the pair of big centre-forwards have failed to impress so far, with just one Premier League goal between them — from the penalty spot. If Wolves look to reignite their interest, they might have an in with new boss Edwards.
Should Wolves have sold JSL to Newcastle in the summer?
The Troy Parrott and Rob Edwards link
Look, it’s hard to get excited as a Wolves fan these days, and it certainly looks like a faraway fantasy right now, but Parrott is surely intending on a Premier League return in the near future.
If he does so, and Wolves decide to return to the table, the fact that he and Edwards share the same representation could give Wolves a leg up, as Balls.ie revealed.

We have seen it quite often with Jorge Mendes’ close ties to Fosun. These things do matter.
That being said, the Irishman might not be too keen on boarding a sinking ship, so any January move would be dependent on a couple of conditions.
Wolves need to tick some boxes before considering Parrott
Wolves’ January approach will be dependent on Edwards’ performance in the coming weeks.
If he can navigate a tricky Christmas period and pick up some points along the way, he may well be backed. If Wolves still sit on two points, forget about it.
There’s another condition, as well. Wolves need to offload an attacker.
Keep or sell Jhon Arias in January?
AZ will look for a hefty enough fee for Parrott, and Wolves have too many other areas to address to not recoup some funds before going after the 23-year-old.
Tolu, Jhon Arias or Hwang Hee-chan might be options. Maybe even Strand Larsen if things continue like they are now.
The only way Wolves are going after Parrott again is if there’s enough of a turnaround in performances and results that survival looks possible.
In that case, maybe the prospect might be more appealing to Parrott.
