IFK Goteborg midfielder Alhassan Yusuf admits he wants to play in the Premier League, amid links to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Nigerian star has just enjoyed a really good campaign over in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

He was expected to depart midway through, but ended up staying to help Goteborg’s cause.

Now, he only has a year remaining on his contract and it’s widely expected he’ll be departing the club having proven himself as one of the better players in the division.

ScoreNigeria have previously claimed Wolves are one of the teams holding an interest in Yusuf, along with Leicester City and Sheffield United.

And it seems there could be a reasonable chance of a transfer, with Yusuf open to a move to the Premier League.

He told Fotboll Direkt: “I want to give my best for the club. For me, Gothenburg is home now, so I have to do my best for the club to be in a good place.

“Then we’ll see what happens.

“Of course I want to play in the Premier League. But you never know what’s going on.”

A chance for Wolves

Yusuf is looking pretty likely to leave Goteborg.

The club are already active in the transfer market, signing midfielder Marek Hamsik, which could potentially pave the way for his exit.

The 20-year-old could be an exciting signing by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Having been likened to N’Golo Kante, he would potentially bring traits that no current Wolves midfielder possesses.
