Wolverhampton Wanderers are claimed to be still keen on signing Willian Carvalho this summer.

A report from Estadio Deportivo has stated that the Premier League side are still on the tail of the 28-year-old, who is coming to the end of his third season with the Spanish outfit.

The article discusses the need for Betis to balance their books this summer.

A host of players are mentioned as potential sales, including Emerson Royal, Nabil Fekir, Mandi and Carvalho.

It’s added that Leicester City are also in the mix.

According to Transfermarkt, Carvalho’ current contract expires in the summer of 2023.

That means there is a decent chance for the club to command a decent transfer fee for a player now in his prime.

Carvalho has enjoyed a decent time in Spain, helping Betis to 10th and 15th-placed finishes in his first two seasons.

This season though, Betis are currently flying high in sixth and are pushing for a Europa League finish.

Carvalho has struggled a little for game time recently, having had a muscular injury at the start of the year – his last league start came back on December 20.

Carvalho would be an superb addition

The former Sporting CP enforcer would be a great signing for Wolves.

He is an experienced player who possesses impressive physical qualities and reads the game well.

Wolves have two technical players in Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, so another Leander Dendoncker type would probably be a good move.

He’s a great age too. At 28 he’s in his prime, unlike Neves and Dendoncker who are yet to reach theirs and Moutinho who is unfortunately now past his.
