Report: Wolves now interested in signing £21.5m Juventus winger

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in snapping up Juventus talent Samuel Iling-Junior but face competition from Brighton and Hove Albion.

That is according to Il Bianconero over in Italy, a site which focuses on Juventus news.

It’s stated that Juve want to try and keep hold of Iling-Junior after extending his contract back in December.

The English winger committed to a new deal until 2025 – but that hasn’t stopped interest in his signature.

The report claims that both Wolves and Brighton have an interest in signing Iling-Junior though and could look to tempt Juve into selling.

Juventus would allegedly cash in for around €25million (£21.5million), which isn’t exactly a low price.

Wolves have lost a winger this summer with Adama Traore moving on as a free agent.

Julen Lopetegui may be interested in adding another wide man and Iling-Junior could fit the bill for Wolves.

Who is Wolves target Samuel Iling-Junior?

Iling-Junior was born in Islington in London and actually came up through the ranks with Chelsea.

The 19-year-old decided to quit Chelsea in 2020 though, preferring to test himself abroad.

Jadon Sancho’s success with Borussia Dortmund tempted other English players into heading abroad and Iling-Junior joined in.

After starting out in the Juventus Next Gen team, Iling-Junior broke into the first-team picture this past season.

A superb cameo in the Champions League against Benfica sparked interest and then that new contract in December.

Iling-Junior only started one Serie A game though and the prospect of more first-team action elsewhere may appeal.

The teenager is a quick and dangerous left-sided winger, a role we associated with Pedro Neto before his injury problems.

Maybe those issues will spark Wolves into a deal for Iling-Junior, though beating Brighton to his signature won’t be easy.
