Report: Wolves interested in Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde

Wolves are reported to be on the tail of Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde.

Eurosport.fr have claimed the 26-year-old is being followed closely, but an offer is yet to be tabled.

Two Bundesliga clubs are said to be in the hunt, with West Ham also said to be in the frame.

Eurosport say Laborde is one of the most prominent strikers in Ligue 1 this season, having scored six goals and made five assists in 18 games and struck up an exciting partnership with the club’s top scorer Andy Delort.

The French star has been with Montpellier since the summer of 2018, joining from Bordeaux after a few different loan spells.

In total, he’s scored 24 goals and made 16 assists in 89 games.

According to ligue1analysis.com, Laborde is particularly useful with his back to goal and excels at bringing others into play. He also has good aerial ability, suggesting he may well share some traits with the currently injured Raul Jimenez.

Laborde would be a risk

But then, neither did Jimenez before he rocked up at Molineux.

Wolves have brought back Patrick Cutrone from his loan to Fiorentina, and Nuno should perhaps see how the Italian gets on before deciding whether he should go after someone like Laborde.
