Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Ruben Vinagre is reportedly drawing interest from Benfica

According to A Bola, the 21-year-old has turned his 2020/21 season around and is currently enjoying a good stint with Farmalicao over in Portugal.

Vinagre has been there since January after ending his stint with Olympiacos early due to a lack of game time.

He only made four appearances for the Greek side before Wolves pulled the plug on the move. He’s already made three times as many as that with Farmalicao.

Supposedly Benfica are eyeing three players ahead of the summer, and Vinagre is one of their targets.

At this stage no contact has yet been made, the club are simply gathering information on the Portugal U21 international.

It remains to be seen if any offer will be forthcoming for Wolves over Vinagre.

If one does, it’s probably quite unlikely it will be close to the £22.5 million buy option that was agreed with Olympiacos (Express & Star).

Wolves may keep hold of Vinagre

Vinagre has the potential to make Wolves a decent profit this summer, but the club actually may have reason to keep hold of him.

Should he continue performing well and Rayan Ait-Nouri continues to struggle for minutes now that Jonny Castro Otto is back, then it could be that Vinagre gets another crack at Molineux.

Fernando Marcal’s injury record is certainly a worry and so if a decent offer doesn’t arrive for Vinagre amid interest from Benfica, then they may hang on to the former AS Monaco man.
