Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly made an attempt to sign Dean Henderson.

According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester United rebuffed a loan enquiry from the club earlier in the summer.

In the end of course, Wolves completed a move for Jose Sa.

The 28-year-old joined the club last week for a fee reported to be worth just over £6 million.

That was shortly after Rui Patricio had departed the club for AS Roma.

It is an interesting claim that Wolves considered Henderson.

The 24-year-old is currently engaged in a fight with David De Gea for the number one jersey at Old Trafford.

He made 26 appearances across all competitions last season, and signed a new £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) deal with the club last year

Sa must justify Wolves’ faith

That United firmly rebuffed Wolves’ reported approach for Henderson must suggest they plan to use him regularly in the coming season.

And he probably does deserve more game time as he’s a great goalkeeper.

He would have been a fantastic addition by Wolves, but Sa is also a good signing.

That said, he’ll need to show a good level and hopefully nobody will be thinking ‘What if?’ about Henderson months down the line.
