Report suggests Man City could include ‘quality’ 21-year-old in swap for Matheus Nunes

Prior to the last week, Wolves likely saw themselves having a relaxed final few weeks of the transfer window.

However, fast-forward to now and it seems to have gone the opposite way for Old Gold.

It all started with Manchester City’s interest in signing Matheus Nunes which has already seen one bid rejected.

This story has kicked other stories into focus, with multiple players now linked with moves to Molineux again with Gary O’Neil expected to have some cash to splash.

Nico Elvedi is the obvious one, given Wolves have been chasing him all summer long and his reasonable asking price.

However now reports are suggesting a talented midfielder could also be on the cards potentially from City.

City could offer Doyle to Wolves

According to a report in The Athletic there is suggestion that City could offer a player in the deal for Nunes.

The player being tipped is ‘quality‘ and a player Wolves are known to like, Tommy Doyle.

Doyle impressed last season on-loan at Sheffield United in the Championship and could be drawn into the negotiations.

This is likely a deal that Wolves fans would like to see included in the larger sale of Nunes.

Doyle is top-class and would be a smart acquisition from Old Gold.

Wolves could come out of Nunes deal stronger

Assuming Wolves are able to bring in at least £55million with Doyle on-top, this deal could be really positive.

That £55m would give the club space to sign players in weak positions and strengthen, while also bringing in a replacement in the process.

Doyle would fill a similar role to Nunes and could do a solid job as he’s shown already he is ready to perform at the top level.

A very interesting week ahead before the deadline for Wolves, as they anticipate a second Nunes bid from City.
