Report: Ruben Neves showed little willingness to negotiate with Manchester United and Liverpool

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves reportedly showed little willingness to negotiate with Manchester United and Liverpool in the last transfer window.

SPORT have reported this afternoon that the Portugal international was the subject of interest from the two English giants.

Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp’s sides both explored the possibility of signing Neves.

But the maestro was apparently not particularly keen to move to either.

It is claimed by SPORT that Neves had learned of interest from Barcelona, and has decided to wait for them to make a move for him.

Barca didn’t have the means to sign him during the last window.

Apparently, the Spanish heavyweights informed Neves back in June that they simply did not have the resources to land him.

Barca knew they needed to address other positions first.

They have ultimately put their faith in Sergio Busquets for one final season.

It is claimed by SPORT that Neves is convinced he can succeed at Camp Nou as part of Xavi’s project.

Wolves star Ruben Neves seemingly wants Barcelona move

Despite their struggles in recent times, Barcelona still have huge pull.

Top-class midfielders are likely to want to go there and work with Xavi, who is a legendary former holding midfielder.

For many, it was a shock that Neves stayed at Wolves beyond the 2022 summer window.

The player himself admitted he was surprised to still be at Molineux.

Ultimately, Wolves’ reported asking price of £70 million seemed to deter potential suitors.

Given the recent claims that Sergio Busquets is expected to leave Barca next year, it would be no surprise if this was Neves’ final campaign with Wolves.

He’d be a brilliant replacement for the Spanish veteran. Hopefully Wanderers would be able to get a good fee for the 25-year-old if Barca did indeed come calling, and he did want to make the move.
