A player who was recently linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers is now joining Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham Hotspur.
Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is widely reported to be heading to north London.
It is a deal that will be a loan at first, with there being an option to buy for £13 million next year (BBC Sport).
Gollini has been on English shores before.
He was in the youth ranks at Manchester United from 2012 to 2014. He then played for Aston Villa.
Gollini is to become the first signing for Nuno since he took the job at Spurs.
Interestingly, Gollini was actually recently reported to be on Wolves’ radar.
Calciomercato had claimed that Wolves had actually made an offer for the 26-year-old.
In the end though, Wolves pressed ahead with a move for Jose Sa to replace Rui Patricio.
The 28-year-old joined for a reported fee of around £6.25 million (Sky Sports).
Wolves fans can be happy with Sa instead
Who knows how close Wolves actually came to landing Gollini.
The link did come fairly out of the blue, and not too long before Jose Sa was actually signed.
Gollini could well eventually become a regular under Nuno with Hugo Lloris now 34.
But Wolves fans need not be looking at how he fares, with Sa a great bit of business.
